YCCDP: A special statement on the International Day of Human Rights

YCCDP:A special statement on the International Day of
Human Rights

Today (10 December) is International Human Rights Day.  Youth Council of China Democracy Party (YCCDP) celebrates International Human Rights Day with organizations committing to promote human rights around the world and the global public. On 10 December 1948, the United Nations adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, a milestone event in the development of human history. For over half a century, we are delighted to see the tremendous progress of the human rights cause worldwide. But at the same time we still find that many of the world's general public are still encountering barying degrees of human rights violations including the 1.3 billion citizens of China. As an organization dedicated to promoting democratic transformation and social progress in China, the YCCDP  will issue a statement on International Human Rights Day as follows:

  1. The Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights are known as the International Bill of Human Rights, and the Chinese Government has formally signed the three covenants. However, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights has been put on the shelf after the signature of Qin Huasun, the Chinese Ambassador to the United Nations on 5 October 1998, and has not been brought to the consideration of the National People's Congress. The YCDP will require the NPC and its Standing Committee to consider and adopt the Covenant unconditionally. As a world power, China should not become a gnome and disgrace country in the cause of human rights.

   2. YCCDP once again strongly called on the Chinese government to open up the ban on the media and party, to realize freedom of the press and expression, including freedom of association and freedom of the Internet, and to promote judicial independence and nationalization of the armed forces. We think that China's democratic transformation is not only beneficial to the country and the cause of progress, but also the most powful protection of the real implementation of China's 1.3 billion civil rights and political rights.

   3. YCCDP require the Chinese government to immediately and unconditionally release the Chinese Democratic Party member Qin Yongmin, Chen Shuqing, Lv Gengsong and other colleagues. The stability and development of any country requires the existence and restriction of the political opposition party. The CCP's suppression and persecution of the Chinese Democratic Party will fail. The CCP will one day lose its power because of the loss of people's support ,so the open party ban is of no delay.

   4. YCCDP demand the immediate and unconditional release of political dissidents such as Liu Xiaobo and llham Toxti, as well as Wu Gan,  Jiang Tianyong, Xie Yang and Li Heping, all detained human rights lawyers and rights activists. It is a shame for a country to catch the speaker. A country that has lost its freedom of speech can not become a responsible country. Freedom of expression is a basic right of every modern citizen.

5.The right to vote and to be elected is very important to every citizen. YCCDP demand that the Chinese government immediately and unconditionally stop the suppression of independent candidates for deputies at all levels of the NPC. Participation in politics is not a minority right. The 1.3 billion Chinese citizens have the right to participate in politics, every citizen should have their own votes, can choose their own representatives of public opinion, can choose their own government officials. The legitimacy of the future Chinese government must come from 1.3 billion Chinese citizens vote.
